Critters

While we are a fruit farm, we still have a select group of critters that call the farm their home.

Please remember that though these pets are friendly, they are still an animal and you should always ask if you can pet them. Just like humans, they don’t always want to be social and sometimes, it is best to let a sleeping dog lie.

Roll over each picture to read their biographies.

Mr. Bities aka Biters aka Mr. B

Mr. B was a 13 year resident here and during his tenure he has earned his name many times over. We are sorry to say that Bities is no longer with us.  He passed away sometime one winter though he did so without alerting any of us...perhaps he lives on somewhere with plenty of hands to bite and all the kitty treats he could ever want.  His legend lives on at the farm despite his absence.

P2 or Puma II came to us this past Christmas as a gift from...we don't know.  She was dropped off on our road, found our farm and declared it home!  Puma has fit right in taking care of mice and finding warm places to sleep in the cooler months. With the most recent addition of Buster, she has found joy in her new past time-teasing Buster just enough to get his nose within striking distance.  They are slowly working out their differences.

Maximus Awesome Dog aka Max aka Mr. Man

Maximus passed away October 18th, just one day after his faithful friend Lilly passed.  He was a fixture just like his predecessor but with a personality all his own.  He loved mixing with our customers and always paused just in case someone wanted to pet his wooly body.  His "arroooos" will be missed along with his happy presence at the farm.

Max

Though he is no longer with us we thought he was still deserving of a space here on this page.  Max was a farm fixture for just 5 short years but his presence was larger than life and many of our loyal customers still talk about him.  He was Amy's companion and the two of them had many adventures over those short years.  He is dearly missed but his new name-sake is working hard to fill his shoes!

Lilly aka Lillers aka Best Doughnut Theif in the East

Lilly was the best doughnut snatcher that ever lived and we hope she is finding all she can gobble up in doggy heaven.  She passed October 17th, just one day before her faithful friend Max passed away.  It was a tough time at the farm and her loss was felt by more than just us.  It was heartening to hear all of your wonderful stories about your Lilly encounters through the years.  She was Paul's companion, and the Franklin family's first dog.  There will never be a farm dog quite like her and though we may not miss tripping over her in the barn, we do miss those eyes begging for doughnuts.

Please welcome Buster as the newest member of Riverview Farm (he’s been here for seven years but it’s still nothing compared to Lilly, the OG of farm dogs).  Buster is Amy's dog but spends some time at the farm with Paul and Nancy.  Lilly may not be here to teach him all the ins and outs of being a farm dog, but he seems to be managing just fine.  B has discovered that farm life really is the best life and loves being outside, bopping around with farm staff when he can. Buster is friendly if not a bit aloof and likes to move around freely-you will often find him laying in the sun or on his bed on the back deck snoozing.
